From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is packed with verses about the power of our words. Our words can activate our faith and unleash blessings and victory in our lives, or they can tie the hands of Almighty God and cause heartache and defeat. Words are containers for power. Our words literally have the power to change our circumstances for better or worse. We should use our words not to describe our situation, but to change it! If you seek to understand this principle, meditate on it, practice it and allow it to penetrate into your spirit, it will revolutionize your life. Below are some of the most important verses about the power of our words to provide an overview of this subject:
1. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs. 18:21) 2. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can be your damnation.” (Matthew 12:36-37, Message) 3. “...He who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully...‘Is not My word like a fire?’ says the LORD, ‘And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?’” (Jeremiah 23:28-29) 4. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.’” (Mark 11:23) 5. “Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.” (James 3:3-5) 6. “And they (the saints) overcame him (the devil, the accuser of the brethren) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony...” (Revelation 12:10) 7. “He who guards his mouth keeps his life, but he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.” (Proverbs 13:3) 8. “You are snared by the words of your mouth.” (Proverbs 6:2) 9. “A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth...” (Proverbs 12:14) 10. “He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles.” (Proverbs 21:23)
Below are Scripture-based positive confessions that we encourage you to speak over your life every day. If you don’t have time to speak them all every day, just pick your favorites, or the ones that most apply to your situation, and declare those out loud daily.

Love Ephesians 5:1-2 (Amplified Version) I’m an imitator of God. I copy Him and follow His example, as well-beloved children imitate their father; and I walk continually in love, that is, I value one another— I practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others, just as Christ also loved me and gave Himself up for me, an offering and sacrifice to God slain for me, so that it became a sweet fragrance. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (Amplified Version) I endure with patience and serenity, I am kind and thoughtful, and am not jealous or envious; I do not brag and am not proud or arrogant. I am not rude; I am not self-seeking, I am not provoked nor overly sensitive and easily angered; I do not take into account a wrong endured. I do not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth when right and truth prevail. I bear all things regardless of what comes, I believe all things looking for the best in each one, I hope all things remaining steadfast during difficult times; I endure all things without weakening. I never fail, I never fade nor end. Joy John 16:23b-24b (New King James Version) …Most assuredly, Jesus says to me, whatever I ask the Father in Jesus’ name He will give me. …... I ask, and I will receive, that my joy may be full. John 15: 10-11 (Amplified Version) If I keep the commandment of Jesus and obey His teaching, I will remain in His love, just as Jesus kept His Father’s commandments and remain in His love. Jesus told me these things so that His joy and delight may be in me, and that my joy may be made full and complete and overflowing. Peace John 14:27 (Amplified Version) Peace Jesus leaves with me; Jesus’ perfect peace He gives to me; not as the world gives does Jesus give to me. I do not let my heart be troubled, nor do I let it be afraid. I let Jesus’ perfect peace calm me in every circumstance and give me courage and strength for every challenge. John 16:32b – 33 (Amplified Classic Version) I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. Jesus told me these things, so that in Him I may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world I have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but I am of good cheer; I take courage; I’m confident, certain, undaunted! For Jesus has overcome the world. Jesus has deprived it of power to harm me and has conquered it for me. Long suffering Colossians 1:9-11 (New King James Version) For this reason we also, since the day I heard it, do not cease to pray …, and to ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; Kindness Colossians 3:12-13 (New King James Version) Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, I put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave me, so I also do. Goodness Psalms 23:6 (Amplified Version) Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell forever, throughout all my day, in the house and in the presence of the Lord. I shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple. Faith Jude vs. 29 (Amplified Classic Version) I build myself up, founded on my most holy faith, make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher, praying in the Holy Spirit. 1 Peter 1:5, 7-9 (New King James Version) I’m kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this I greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, I have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of my faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not see, I love. Though now I do not see Him, yet believing, I rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of my faith—the salvation of my soul. Meekness 2 Timothy 2: 24-25 (Amplified Version) As a servant of the Lord I must not participate in quarrels, but must be kind to everyone, even-tempered, preserving peace, and I must be, skilled in teaching, patient and tolerant when wronged. I must correct those who are in opposition with courtesy and gentleness in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and be led to the knowledge of the truth. Psalms 37:11 (New King James Version) But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Temperance Titus 1: 7-8 (Amplified Version) As God’s steward, I must be blameless, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain, but financially ethical. And I must be hospitable to believers, as well as strangers, a lover of what is good, sensible, upright, fair, devout, self-disciplined, above reproach whether in public or in private. Proverbs 17:27 (Amplified Version) I have knowledge and restrain and I'm careful with my words, and I'm a man of understanding and wisdom. I have a cool spirit, self-control, and an even temper.
